Entry Policy as of May 1st 2021

​The first phase of our mitigation strategy will go into effect on May 1st 2021.
  • Vaccinated persons who enter the island will be able to do so without quarantine.
  • Non-vaccinated persons will continue to require quarantine of 5 days.

​​Saba will continue the policy in which incoming travelers need to request permission through info@sabagov.nl.
(A new system is currently being set up where persons requesting entry to the island will receive a digital application which they fill in online and submit. Travelers will then receive a response, followed by a permission letter for entry to the island.
Persons will be expected to submit their application minimum 72 hours prior to arrival.
Failure to do so can result in deny of entry to the island.

It is important to remain aware that our reopening strategy is dependent upon how the pandemic continues to develop.

Saba will move to a 2 category Risk Categorization system: high vs low risk.
​Countries/territories are considered low risk if there is no active local circulation of SARS-CoV-2 over the past 14 days.

Below are the various categories of persons who would be entering the island and the measures which will apply:

Pre-travel test: High Risk: YES, Low Risk: NO
Quarantine: High Risk: NO, Low Risk: NO
Rapid test on arrival: High Risk: TBD LATER, Low Risk: NO
Rapid test day 5: High Risk: TBD LATER, Low Risk: NO
Masks for 5 days: High Risk: TBD LATER, Low Risk: NO

NON- Vaccinated Adults:
Pre-travel test: High Risk: YES, Low Risk: NO
Quarantine: High Risk: YES 5 DAY, Low Risk: NO
Rapid test on arrival: High Risk: NO, Low Risk: NO

NON- Vaccinated Persons under 18 years old:
Pre-travel test: High Risk: YES, (BUT Children under 2 - 10 years only get a throat swab on arrival) Low Risk: NO
Quarantine: High Risk: NO (BUT 5 days no school, daycare, afterschool care & Child Focus), Low Risk: NO
Rapid test on arrival: High Risk: NO, Low Risk: NO
Rapid test day 5: High Risk: YES, (BUT children under 2 - 10 years only get a throat swab) Low Risk: NO
Masks for 5 days: High Risk: YES (Under 10 years old), Low Risk: NO

If you are arriving to the island before May 1st

Keep in mind that the entry requirements of 10 days quarantine and prior testing when traveling from medium to high risk areas remain in place. However after May 1st the new policy will also apply to you.

Non-vaccinated persons will quarantine for the duration of 5 days whereas vaccinated persons will no longer quarantine but pre- travel testing does apply.

Vaccinated persons arriving on April 20th, will have to quarantine until April 29th (10 days).
This means they will leave the quarantine location on April 30th.
Vaccinated people arriving on Saba on April 21th until April 30th, come out of quarantine on May 1st.
For instance vaccinated persons arriving on April 22th , come out of quarantine on May 1st as well.

  • Max 2 weeks before: Filled in the entry application and sent it to info@sabagov.nl or to your accommodation manager two weeks prior to arrival, (Also print hard copy of approval letter.) (No later that 72 hours (3 days) before arrival otherwise can result in denial of entry) 
  • Max 2 weeks before: Signed the quarantine waiver and sent it in to info@sabagov.nl or to your accommodation manager. (Also print hard copy) (No later that 72 hours (3 days) before arrival otherwise can result in denial of entry)  ​
  • ​Max 5 days before: A Negative COVID-19 PCR result, taken maximum 120 hours before arrival, if traveling from an international location, or maximum 72 hours before arrival, if traveling from a regional location. 
    • If you are traveling from a high-risk area, you must be willing to take another COVID-19 PCR test at the end of the quarantine period on island.
  • Max 5 days before (upon receipt of negative COVID-19 PCR result, processing takes 6-8  hours:  Must met the requirements for traveling via St. Maarten (Even if your in transit, MUST fill in form!) (Also print hard copy of approval letter.)​

Windward Island Airways regular air service connects to Saba/Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport (SAB) from St. Maarten.

Basic Travel Information
  • ​​Persons are urged to adhere to all safety protocols as established by airlines and vessels on their journey to Saba.
  • Persons are expected to take preventive measures to protect themselves and others from infection during travel: i.e. washing of hands and/or use of hand sanitizer regularly; avoiding touching common surfaces; avoid touching of face (eyes, mouth and nose) with unwashed hands; maintaining a physical distance of at least 1.5 meters/ 5 feet from others.
  • The use of masks are required on airlines and vessels traveling to Saba and in other spaces and areas where persons cannot maintain a physical distance of at least 1.5 meters/ 5 feet from others.

  • ​Remain quarantined at a Juliana’s Hotel pre-approved location for at least 10 days. (After May 1st 2021 Vaccinated no quarantine and Non-Vaccinated 5 day quarantine)
  • Undergo regular health monitoring.
  • Obtain a negative PCR COVID-19 test to be released from quarantine.
