Meet the Team

Our friendly, efficient and multilingual staff (fluent in English, Dutch, French, and Spanish) will quickly get to know you, providing a level of personal service and individual attention.

Johanna & Wim Schutten

Owners
Managers Johanna van’t Hof and her husband Wim Schutten keep Juliana's Hotel and Tropics Café in excellent running order to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of their guests. Johanna was born on Bonaire but grew up on Saba; she speaks both Dutch and English. Wim, who is Dutch by birth, grew up in California and lived in France for several years. He is fluent in English, Dutch, and French.

The college sweethearts met at Webster University, in Leiden, Holland. Wim fell in love with the island when he came down to meet Johanna’s family. After graduating from university, they were married on Saba in August 2002 and began working at Juliana’s Hotel in December 2002. They bought the property in 2003. As a young girl growing up in the Caribbean, it was Johanna’s dream to move back to the Caribbean and run her own hotel. Wim who grew up in a family that owned hotels, also dreamed of one day owning his very own. The two have made their dreams come alive at Juliana’s Hotel. At some hotels, you might be invited to the manager's cocktail party, but at Juliana’s Hotel and Tropics Café you are invited to the managers' home and become part of their daily lives.

Hermes "The Dog"

Boss of whatever!

Hermes came to us in 2020. A bundle of joy with quite the bossy attitude.
He's here to put a smile on your face, his exact roll is still to be determined, but he loves to get involved with everything; from throwing laundry around, to helping the gardener weed, to riding around doing errands and deliveries in the truck!
