Our staff joined the second annual Saba Tourism and Hospitality Conference set up by the Island Government of Saba.
Customer service training and hospitality workshops done by TPI Training International Professionals firm directed to our staff on the following subjects; attitudes for service, managing customer expectations and overcoming obstacles to customer service. These workshops are important to continue to invest into our tourism product, Xiomara, Lisette and Leanna attended, and these were their thoughts:
Xiomara thought the workshops were great. She liked how the instructors gave their own personal experiences, so that you are able to understand the situation and client better. She also learned to look at things differently, she liked that you learned how not to take a customer’s reaction as a personal attack. She also liked learning how to say “No” without using the word no. Xiomara thought it was a great experience, and was very happy that the island government organized such extensive workshops.
Leanna thought it was very educational, and an eye opener. Much pertained to our workplace, dealing with customers, even with our colleagues and ourselves. The workshops demonstrated how to change your mindset. I really enjoyed them, and wished I could have attended more….but hey I had to work :)
Lisette enjoyed the topics of how to manage your emotions in the works place, and how she could relate to real life day-to-day situations. Overall, she thought it was a great experience and enjoyed the speakers.
All of the courses are accredited and therefore Xiomara, Lisette and Leanna will receive certificates upon completion of the training.
This conference comes in a time when we hope to work on network building, strengthening of relationships both locally, regionally, enhancing of our tourism product, and marketing knowledge. This week the conference continues with business owners about Destination Recovery after a Disaster, Saba as a Green Destination, the new tourism website, update on St. Maarten’s tourism sector and Winair’s flight connects to Bonaire.
